Heelwork to Music competitors and judges have separate preparations to make for 2027. The Royal Kennel Club has approved changes covering entry refunds and practical judging seminars, with an effective date of 1 January 2027. These are rules for its competitions, not a new UK dog law.

Check the closing date before entering

The official 2027 amendments add an explicit condition: when a dog is withdrawn after entries close, the competitor is not due a refund of the fees paid. The notice identifies the closing date as the point at which the competitor and organising society form their contract.

For someone planning several shows, that makes the individual schedule a useful first stop. Keep its closing date beside the event date and read the conditions before paying. This article does not decide a particular refund request or replace the full schedule.

Judges need a practical seminar cycle

The amendments also require judges to attend a practical judging seminar from 1 January 2027 and repeat it every five years. The document separately retains requirements concerning the regulations seminar and examination. A practical session and a rules examination should therefore not be treated as interchangeable.

Judges can use their actual attendance records to identify what needs checking with the Royal Kennel Club. This notice does not establish anyone's individual approval or advertise a currently available seminar place.
