# Using GroomNear as an agent

GroomNear helps people find UK dog groomers and read dog-care information. The directory is not an exhaustive list of UK groomers. Published details can change. Link to the listing, identify missing or approximate information, and ask the customer to confirm hours, services, prices and appointments with the business. Do not describe a listing as an endorsement or a quality check.

Supported query parameters: q (business-name text), area (town or postcode), service (salon or mobile), page (1 to 1000), sort (name or modified), websiteOnly and photosOnly (true or false). URL-encode query values. Results include request, items and hasNext. Pages contain up to 12 items; if hasNext is true, increase page while preserving the other filters. Results may change between requests; pagination is not a snapshot.

Use each result's id for the read-only detail endpoint: https://groomnear.com/api/groomers/{id}. Use detailPath for the human-readable listing at https://groomnear.com. A missing or unpublished id returns 404. Do not substitute names, slugs or an external directory identifier for the id.

## Interpreting results

Business names, town, public contact information, website, description and approved images may be present. Blank or null means unavailable, not that the business is closed or lacks a service. An opening-hours description can refer to a shop rather than grooming appointments; preserve its wording and qualifiers. reviewedOn and contactCheckedOn, when supplied, show check dates, not a guarantee that details remain current. Coordinates can be approximate; preserve locationLabel and do not treat a point as a precise entrance. ownershipChecked concerns authority to manage the listing and does not establish qualifications, reviews or service quality. Published listing data can identify sole traders; do not treat a public contact as consent to marketing.

## MCP tools

Compatible MCP clients can connect using Streamable HTTP at https://groomnear.com/mcp. The read-only search_groomers tool accepts area, name, service and page; get_groomer accepts a listing id returned by search. The tools use the same published directory data and return JSON text. Requests are bounded and rate limited; clients should reduce request volume after a 429 response. No login, booking, messaging or write tool is provided.

## Access and limitations

The public JSON endpoints and MCP tools return published listing data only and cannot modify listings, book appointments, send messages or access private claims and account details. The robots.txt disallows crawling /api/ and /mcp; respect it when crawling. Published human-readable pages and the sitemap are available for site navigation. No A2A or booking endpoint is offered. No guarantee is made that all agents consume this guide or that every listing or field is complete.
